The hardest life a finish can live

Architectural metalwork gets the worst of everything: sun, rain, pollution, cleaning chemicals, and thousands of human touches a day. A main gate or a stair railing is both a structural element and a piece of jewellery for the building — and most finishes force a choice between the two. PVD exists to remove that choice.

Why exteriors are PVD's natural home

On stainless steel substrates, a PVD layer gives exterior metal three things conventional finishes struggle to combine: a true metallic colour that does not fade in sunlight, a surface hard enough to shrug off keys, rings and cleaning abrasion, and a dense barrier against the moisture that eventually finds every micro-pore in plated work. The result is a gate that looks the same in year five as it did at handover.

Consistency across a project

Large architectural jobs are delivered in batches — gates this month, railings next, balustrade infill after. Because PVD colour comes from process physics rather than pigment mixing, batch-to-batch tone matching is excellent, and the gate installed in March matches the railing installed in August. For projects where several fabricators' components meet on one facade, that consistency is the difference between a designed building and an assembled one.

Design freedom in the same breath

Because the coating is microns thin, laser-cut detail stays crisp, brushed and mirror textures read exactly as the fabricator finished them, and mixed-finish designs — a black frame with gold infill, bronze handles on champagne panels — are simply a matter of masking and scheduling.
